Scott Alonso, Project Associate
Scott brings experience in grassroots organizing, political research, political campaign support, and media relations to his work at KRC. He plays an integral role in all of KRC's grassroots and political campaigns, and assists in media outreach and coalition building for KRC’s nonprofit clients. He's worked with Ford Greene for San Anselmo Town Council, the Insight Center for Community Economic Development, Norman Solomon's Congressional Exploratory Committee, the Center for Judicial Excellence, the Alaska Federation of Natives, and Steve Moss for District 10 Supervisor.
Prior to joining KRC, Scott was a due diligence analyst for VR Research. At VR Research, Scott was responsible for public records requests, and helped write research reports for various political clients at the national, state, and local levels.
During the 2008 general election cycle, Scott was the lead field organizer for the California Democratic Party in the San Francisco field office. Scott recruited and trained volunteers, managed a team of college and high school interns, and ensured voter contact benchmarks were met on a daily basis. In this role, Scott ran the day-to-day operations of the office and coordinated with the local Democratic Party and Obama for America volunteers.
Scott also worked as a legislative intern in the Hawaii State Senate for State Senator Les Ihara, Jr., the majority policy leader, during the 2007 legislative session. As a member of Senator Ihara’s staff, Scott attended daily senate hearings, drafted and researched legislation, and worked on a Freedom of Information audit with the Society of Professional Journalists that tracked sunshine law compliance for various state agencies. Scott compiled daily media reports and assisted with community and constituent services.
Scott earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is active in political and civic activities in the community, including volunteering with Live Local Marin and at the Mill Valley Middle School. He lives in Novato and is the Immediate Past President of the Marin County Young Democrats.
