KRC was hired in February to manage media outreach for the Sustainable World Symposium & Festival, produced by Sustainable World Coalition (of Earth Island Institute), in partnership with The Pachamama Alliance and SustainLane. The Symposium took place on May 13-14, 2006, and was a hands-on, exciting investigation of the simple steps we can take to manage destructive environmental and social trends. Symposium participants enjoyed a variety of engaging events, from live music and theater, to 60 exhibitor booths, powerful films, green project demos, nationally acclaimed speakers, and access to a network of people dedicated to maintaining sustainable practices – including an Ubuntu Culture Village and World Café.
The KRC team garnered pre-event media hits across the Bay Area for the Symposium, from 15 minute interview segments on KFRC Street Talk, KLLC/Alice/Sunday Magazine, Live 105/KITS/Community Connection, KYOU 1550 AM,1069 Free FM and KBAY to articles in the Pacific Sun and SF Weekly. EcoTalk host Betsy Rosenburg produced regular one-minute stories on KCBS during the week leading up to the Symposium and word of the event was distributed via the Bay City Newswire. We also coordinated extensive print and online calendar listings and PSA runs throughout the region.
